Sheldon ISD earns a “B” accountability rating

“I am so proud of the hard work and dedication of our students and staff,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. King Davis. “We had seen such positive gains prior to the pandemic when schools shut down. We have worked hard, and we are seeing the outcome of the long hours and dedication.”

“We are fortunate in Sheldon ISD to measure success and accountability in many ways besides the STAAR exam,” Dr. Davis said. “For example, many of our students have graduated this past summer to enter college with more than 60 hours of college credit. Some have certifications to be able to work in the field of cosmetology or fly a drone airplane. Our STEM students are achieving skills to be able to work in the medical field or technology industry. These accountability scores are simply a measurement from one test.

While the STAAR exam doesn’t define the total package of our work to prepare each child for the future, it does measure the success and growth of our students during the year and is a true testament to their learning and the instruction received from our hardworking staff. Of course, we could not do all of this without the support of our parents and families. Congratulations!”
